Special 30 April – 3 May

It’s wet and only going to get colder over the next week and so were going to feature our classic comfort pizza – tomato base, provolone (cheese), red onion, wood roasted potatoes and rosemary…delicious and oh so satisfying!

Tiramisu is on the menu this week, Jules has lovingly made the choc-mint variety which always goes down well with an espresso!

Robyn and Doug, regulars at Bella Fresca Pizzeria, last week dropped in a batch of their home-grown quinces which we’ve prepped for a special – limited time only – dessert pizza. Served with vanilla ice cream it’s simply too good to miss!

Special April 23-26 (anzac week)

This week’s special is what the Italians would refer to as a ‘bianco’ pizza. That is, it has a white base, rather than a red (rosso) base.

It’s that delicious combination of garlic and ricotta although to balance it we’re adding lovely in-season zucchini and for the protein eaters amongst us, we’re recommending salami, either hot or mild. It really is a delicious combination!

This week’s special dessert is the increasingly popular chocolate mud cake, served with vanilla ice cream and strawberries – another classic combination!

Out of respect for our diggers, both past and present, Bella Fresca Pizzeria will not open this Friday 25 April, Anzac Day. However we’ll still open on our other regular days:

Special April 16-19 (easter week)

To see in Easter 2014 we’re going with a classic Italian ‘puttanesca inspired’ special – tomato base, provolone (cheese), white anchovies, olives, baby capers and basil..delish!

It’s even better with a serving of our delicious homemade ‘traditionale’ tiramisu which Jules has lovingly made!

We’ve been trialling a new nero d’avola wine which we’ve added to the current wine list – nero d’avola is a grape variety famously grown on Sicily and is lovely with pizza and Italian cuisine.

Special April 9-12

Daylight saving has departed for another season and with the BOM predicting rain for the better part of the week there’s a decidedly winter feel about… even though it’s not yet that cold…

So to herald the change in season, we’re going with our homemade meatball pizza this week – it’s a tomato base, provolone, red onion, homemade meatballs and green peas. It’s a classic ‘comfort food’ combination.

For the sweet-tooths there’s a delicious chocolate mud cake on offer – it’s different to the one we featured a couple of weeks ago – more decadent, served with vanilla ice-cream and strawberries and absolutely delicious!

This week’s special has been requested numerous times since we featured it last November…it’s an extra virgin olive oil base, beetroot, walnuts, fresh rocket and goats cheese…perfect for the vegetarians in our midst!

Tiramisu is back on the dessert menu this week with Jules opting to go with the ‘traditionale’ version, made with espresso, amaretto and love!

As we’re set for a cooler spell this week, there are few cosier places to enjoy dinner than at Bella Fresca Pizzeria in front of our wood fire oven.

To see out the first month of autumn we’re going with the popular combination of tomato base, provolone, roasted capsicum, roasted eggplant and feta…for the protein lovers amongst us this is also a goodie with hot or mild salami…and it goes down especially well with a glass of nero d’avola – the newest wine on our list!

For sweets we’ve got a decadent chocolate mud cake – a rich dark chocolate with lashings of ganache…the sort of dessert that will leave a delicious lingering flavour…mmmm. If this doesn’t take your fancy you cold always order a chocolate calzone with fresh strawberries or have a serving of gelato…

Our special this week features an extra virgin olive oil base, provolone, wood-roasted pumpkin, pine nuts, fresh rocket and goats cheese…delish!

We also have a ‘special’ wine this week – a Sicilian Nero d’Avola, which can be purchased by the glass.

Tiramisu-ers will be pleased to learn that Jules’ homemade version is back on the menu this week – the choc-mint variety – which goes down perfectly with an espresso and could be one of the best ways to finish a meal…

To herald the beginning of Autumn we’re going with another classic vegetarian combination this week – tomato base, baby spinach, roasted capsicum, roasted eggplant and feta….yum!

Tiramisu this week is the classic variety with espresso and amaretto….perfetto with a short black to finish.

A big thank you to all of you who dropped by for our first week back and regaled us with tales of attempting homemade pizza in our absence…and then telling us how rapt you are to have us back doing what we do best…making Castlemaine’s most delicious wood fired pizza! It was fabulous to open to such a great reception so thank you…we’re loving being back!

To celebrate our return we’re featuring one of our more popular and highly requested specials – la patata! That’s right, a tomato base, provolone, red onion, wood-roasted potatoes and rosemary…delicious…especially so with a glass of vino or san pellegrino sparkling!

Tiramisu lovers will be pleased to learn that they’ll be able to drop by and collect a piece (or two!) of the delicious triple-choc version that Jules has lovingly made.

Or if you’re a fan of gelato then you might be tempted by one of three refreshing varieties – chocolate, strawberry or lemon or perhaps one of each.

Being summer we’ve also got our four yummy salads available – mista (mixed leaf, cucumber, tomato), rucola (rocket, pear, parmesan), greek (tomato, cucumber, olives & feta) or caprese (fior di latte, tomato and fresh basil) – all complement our pizzas deliciously.

Jan 29 – Feb 1: This week’s special is the ever popular ‘quattro formaggi’ or four cheeses – but with our own twist; a tomato base with mozzarella, provolone, gorganzola, feta and fresh basil…hmm delicious, especially so, with a glass of vino!

For sweets we have delicious refreshing gelato in strawberry or lemon or for those with an inkling for something more indulgent there’s always the homemade triple-choc tiramisu. You can’t really go wrong with either option.

After this Saturday night, Bella Fresca Pizzeria will be closed for our annual break – we’ll re-open again on Wednesday 26 February 2014.
